University of Pretoria

The University of Pretoria (UP) in Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa, was originally founded in 1908 and became an independent university on 10 October 1930.

To date, the University of Pretoria has become the largest university in South Africa. It now has more than 26,000 students studying in its 11 colleges and 139 departments, including about 7,000 graduate students. The University’s 43 research institutes and centres also work rigorously to improve the quality and output of research. The University of Pretoria exports about 5,500 highly qualified people to the South African community every year. The highest number of students was 26 percent, compared with 20, 593 in 1990. On the one hand, the school absorbs outstanding talents from South Africa and other countries in the world, on the other hand, the school also tries to meet the learning requirements of every student. The school contributes to society by producing a large number of highly qualified people for the local, South African and international communities. The School will continue to optimize its teaching and research programs, and will continue to promote the intellectual, cultural and personal development of learning!

The campus of the University of Pretoria is about 24 hectares, surrounded by violet and tropical plants. One of the oldest buildings is the Old Art Building, completed in 1911. Teaching is not limited to the main campus. The school also has two practice farms for students majoring in biology and agriculture. The Office of International Affairs is responsible for foreign administration.
